After last minute negotiations between Leadership and the House Freedom Caucus (HFC) while the vote on the rule was held open, the House cleared a crucial litmus test vote by adopting the rule for consideration of the OBBBA. The vote was 219-213 with every Republican voting for the rule except Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick.
The House is now proceeding with up to one hour of debate on the Senate amendment to the OBBBA, with passage expected in the next one to two hours, pending procedural motions by House Democrats and the conclusion of Minority Leader Jeffries “magic minute” floor remarks.
With the rule behind them, passage the OBBBA early this morning looks more and more likely. We will keep you updated.
