The final version of the NDAA (S.1071) was released this evening at 5:30 pm. The Rules Committee will meet on Tuesday at 4:00 pm to consider a closed rule governing consideration of the bill with final passage in the House expected on Wednesday. The Senate is not expected to consider the bill until the week of December 15th. This will be the 65th consecutive year that the NDAA has been enacted into law.
The bill authorizes $901 billion for national defense discretionary programs, $8 billion more than the President’s budget request. The House-passed version of the bill originally authorized $892 billion while the Senate version included $926 billion.
